1964 Topps Ron Santo and 2002 Variations

Hall of Fame weekend is approaching.  Here's new inductee Ron Santo on his 1964 Topps card.

Not sure about the "look". Is it intensity?, sleepiness?, about to sneeze?

These are two cards from 2002 Topps Archives.
Why does Topps bother to reprint cards and then fail to duplicate the fonts?  Why?
The back has two matching changes in that instead of the normal reference to the previous season (1963), the narrative talks about and the stats include 1964.  Can you believe Ron Santo once led the NL in triples?  I wonder how many were in cozy Wrigley Field and how many on the road.  I'll tell you.  Nine were at Wrigley and just 4 on the road.  His home run totals were more even at 16 home, 14 away.  The speedy triples machine had just 3 stolen bases in 7 attempts.

This card features the always great Santo signature
