The 1950's

1912 Wills's Musical Celebrities

Our two cards for this morning are from a 1912 set from W.D. & H.O. Wills called Musical Celebrities. I recently added these to my growing collection of tobacco cards.

Cecil + Prince = 101

Did you know?:

Cecil and Prince Fielder are the only father-son duo to have hit 50 home runs each in a single season. Cecil hit 51 in 1990, Prince 50 in 2007.

Card of the Day

Today's card of the day is 1953 Topps #128, Wilmer Mizell. Who can look at this card and not like it?
Wilmer was 13-5 for the 1960 World Series Champion Pittsburgh Pirates. After baseball he went into politics, serving three terms, 1968-74, as congressman from North Carolina. He also had appointed positions in both the Ford and Reagan administrations.

2005 UD Signature Decades -- the 1980's

I have a fair amount of certified auto cards but my favorite set is Upper Deck's 2005 Signature Decades. Overall the design is appealing and they are all on card autographs in a bright blue ink that stands out nicely against a white background.

Here are seven stars from the 1980's. Five are in the Hall of Fame.
