Yep, these were released in Canada and the US. Packs had a few base and a couple mini cards like Ginter etc. Hobby boxes had mini autos and mini game used cards too, you could also get redemptions for Museum cards including a T-Rex tooth etc. I completed the base 09-10 Set (no SP's or Minis) by buying a couple blasters. I sure as hell didn't see blasters in Chicago.
That is pretty unfortunate! I found mine back in the day at Toys 'R Us in Canada but maybe distribution was skewed or something. There are hobby and blasters online....pricey but if you want to take a chance you might be rewarded.
As Dave H said yes they were they are the Upper Deck Hockey version of Topps Allen & Ginter's which is primarily Baseball.
