Check Out My COMC Cards Part 1

If you're a regular reader you won't be surprised when I tell you that I opened a package on Christmas day from COMC dated June 7.  Judge me if you like.
Part one is a handful of tennis cards.  As the years go by I find that I'm less and less interested in tennis.  I grew up in a golden age of tennis in the 1960's and 70's.  Since the late 90's my interest has waned probably along with a good percentage of Americans.  Maybe it has something to do with a lack of great American players.  Anyway, here are some cards of players I do like.

Ladies first:

The Williams sisters have grown on me over the years.  Have there ever been  any more successful siblings male or female than Venus and Serena?  I'm also sympathetic with Venus having someone close to me who is living with the same chronic illness, Sjogren's Syndrome.

I love Kim as much for her sense of humor as her tennis, 

Caroline, or as I call her, "The Woz" has won 20 WTA tournaments and was ranked #1 for 67 weeks has yet to break through and win a Grand Slam event.  She's another woman, who's personality and sense of humor I like, Caroline does an impression of her friend Serena Williams.

At age 25, Joker is #1 in the world and is already considered by many to be one of the best of all-time.

I never considered myself an Agassi fan but I do now after having read his terrific book, Open.

I (not so recently now) had 8 months worth of Check Out My Cards purchases shipped.  I divided the 153 cards into 35 groups.  I like to think of these as hand picked "packs".   I'm posting them in random order.  "Pack" #35, 4 cards, was $1.07 including shipping.

Can't get too much of the old-timers, especially ones that don't show up in every set.  These are from 2011 UD Goodwin Champions.

Here we have a nice handful of Topps Triple threads, the first four from 2010, the last 2009.  Hard to beat 5 serial numbered Hall of of Famers for less than 2 bucks.  I like the colorized old photos.  Do you?

This is my third pack of Hank Greenberg's in this series.  The other two are here and here.  This pack is a mini rainbow of a leaping Hanks from the 2010 Triple Threads set.  Not sure how many there actually are.

It's cool to think that these cards were released just at the beginning of Beatlemania in 1964.

One of the big questions back in '64 was, "Who's your favorite Beatle?"  So 48 years late, I'm asking you, who's your favorite Beatle, and why?

2004 Donruss Throwback Threads #CS-27 

 I'm not old enough to have seen him play but I grew up listening to Lou Boudreau broadcasting Cubs games on WGN radio.  I didn't mean to get two of these but for 19 cents each I'm OK with it.

 2008 Donruss Throwback Threads #47

 I associate Red withe the great Cardinals teams he managed in the 1960's but he was a great player making  11 All-Satr teams in his 19 year career.

 2010 Topps Logoman #HTA 8

 Speaker ranks as one of the best hitters in baseball history.

 2002 Topps Super Teams #44

I've liked Dick Stuart ever since I saw him on "Home Run Derby".
