Eight time Stanley Cup Champion and Hall of Famer Red Kelly is 85 today.

In addition to his Cups, Red also won 4 Lady Byng's and a NorrisTrophy.

Kelly was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1969.

Neurologist and author Oliver Sacks is celebrating his 79th birthday today.

Just a few of Oliver's great books:

Sacks also wote the book "Awakenings", the basis of the movie with the same name that starred Robert DeNiro and Robin Williams.

Actor Tom Hanks is 56 today.  Tom seems to be one of the most liked men in Hollywood and there's probably at least one of his movies that you've seen and liked.

Parhurst Retro Toronto Maple Leafs

It's hard to believe but for the quarter century prior to 1967 the NHL consisted of only six teams, the Canadiens, Maple Leafs, Rangers, Bruins, Red Wings and Blackhawks.

In the mid-nineties, Parkhurst commemorated the 1964-65 NHL season by producing a set of "Tall Boy" cards featuring players and coaches from the "Original Six" teams. I'll be sharing my favorites in coming posts.
