Song for a Sunday Night
Cliff at Capewood;s Collections always has interesting music in his Song of the Week. This week he posted a song from the movie Oblivion by a band called M83. I was particularly intrigued by the featured singer, a Norwegian singer/songwriter Susanne Sundfor. I've only had time to listen to a couple of songs so far but I really like them:
Topps was Really Goofy in 1957
What do you get an 80 year old man for Father's Day? I think my father-in-law is going to love these. He was a commercial artist back in the pre-computer days and has been known to draw a cartoon or two himself. I picked up one quarter of the the 60 card set in excellent condition for less than the price of a blaster. Though they look like postcards, the 1957 Topps Goofy Postcards are standard baseball card size. My favorite is #55. #35 reminds me of something you'd see in the New Yorker.

Sons of Israel
A few years ago I featured a set of cards called Sons of Italy consisting of Italian-American ballplayers. Recently I picked up a set along similar lines, though much smaller, featuring ballplayers of Jewish descent. Being Jewish myself I thought it would be fun to make "The Chosen" one focus of my collecting this year. These are a great start.

Song for a Sunday Night
I just discovered this group. They were nominated for Best New Artist at this year's Grammy's. Listen to a little or a lot.

A 124 Year Old Diamond Card
I recently added this to my collection of tobacco cards. It's from the N218 Gems of the World 25 card set produced by Kinney Bros in 1889. Cost? 99 cents. :)

Card of the Day
This recent pick up is my first and so far only card from the 50 card N88 set, The Terrors of America and Their Doings issued by Duke's Cigarettes in 1889. I can't get enough cards like this.
To put the age of this card in perspective:
Here's the final standing for the National League in 1889:

| Chicago White Stockings | 67 | 65 | .508 | 19 |
| Philadelphia Phillies/Quakers | 63 | 64 | .496 | 20.5 |
| Pittsburg Alleghenys | 61 | 71 | .462 | 25 |

Vincent Van Gogh painted The Starry Night:

The Eiffel Tower was completed becoming the tallest man made structure in the world:
Nellie Bly's unprecedented trip around the globe began. Great book by the way.
