Garage Sale Packs #3

I went to a garage sale last weekend where a guy had a lot of cards.  Most of them were junk and mostly way overpriced.  The best thing I found was a box filled with ziplock bags of about 20-25 cards each for a quarter a bag.  Without opening them, which I didn't feel right about (and they were tightly packed), I could only see the outside two cards.  I did my best to at least get about a quarter's worth from each one.

I think I did pretty well on the first two packs.  This one, not as much.  It had more baseball then the first two packs but not much that was interesting.

This is by far my favorite card in the pack.  First of all it's just a great shot.  Second it's the Boston Patriots.  I still prefer the old uniforms to the current ones that remind me too much of the post office.  Cappelletti was the 1964 AFL MVP.  His number 20 was retired by the Patriots in 1992.

Right on, Jack!

Christinan had a brief but successful career and is in the Chiefs Hall of Fame.  His nickname was "The Nigerian Nightmare".

Derrick had some fine years with the Browns, Raven and Chiefs.  Injuries shortened his career.
1995 Score #95

Here's my second favorite card from the pack.  I don't know if I have any more of these 1993 Flair but it looks like a cool set designwise.

Jackie Slater holds the NFL record for most years played with the same team (20) and is in the Hall of Fame.  I'm not sure what to make of this card but then I've never been in the position of considering whether or not to join a gang.  Having lived in Chicago all my life I appreciate the message, though.

  1. Okoye seemed to just disappear all of a sudden, didn't he? I remember he was really good on Super Tecmo Bowl, and then I stopped getting his football cards in packs. Whatever happened to him?

  2. I don't collect football but I am a Pats fan and that card you led off the post with is fantastic!
