Yazoo! Part 2 -- Give Me Dr. Jazz

Three more great cards.  Nice that they gave pianist and composer Lil Hardin, Armstong's wife in the 1920's, the card following his.  I love the music.  If you have the time check it out.

This features Louis on trumpet and vocal with wife Lil Hardin (card below), who wrote the song, on piano.
Another song by Lil with Louis and the boys

Yazoo! Part 1

Browsing on Ebay the other day I came across an intriguing set of cards.  I've been in the collecting/blogging doldrums lately and these really hit the spot.
The artist that painted these cards is none other than underground comics legend, Robert Crumb.

The set combines three of my favorite things, trading cards, art and music, in this case early jazz.  Since reprinted, these are the originals put out by Yazoo Records in 1982.

Stickers!

I've been collecting fan packs for about five years now.  I shared a bunch of them in a series I called Fan Pack Fun.  Judging by the response,  you did not think they were fun at all and I stopped posting them.  Maybe that accounts for my simply throwing a bunch of the unopened envelopes in a box for a rainy day.  Obviously, if you've seen my unopened pack collection, it's also part of my delayed gratification fetish.  Well, I opened all the remaining ones and sorted the contents of the entire collection.

Who doesn't like stickers?  They're simple.  They're colorful.  They represent the team.  They're fun.  Here's most of my collection.  Hopefully you see a team you like.  I'm a Cubs fan but my favorites have to be the old orange and black birds from Baltimore.  Anyone have any creative ideas on what to do with these?

Chalkboard Legends

Here's another subset from the inexpensive but fun 1994 Ted Williams Company Football set.  It features eight of the the NFL's all-time great head coaches.  I like the subtle dual image design particularly on the four that feature the coaches back their playing days.
