Pitcher Tommy John is celebrating his 69th birthday today.
Tommy won 288 games in his 26 season career. Along the way he was chosen as an All-Star 4 times and was the 1976 Comeback Player of the Year. Of course, his name is synonymous with the surgery procedure that prolonged his career and is now common.

Lyricist Bernie Taupin is celebrating his 62nd birthday today.
Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics to most of Elton John's most well known songs, Goodbye Yellowbrick Road, Tiny Dancer, Candle in the Wind, etc. He also wrote lyrics for other artists, including Starship's We Built This City and Heart's These Dreams.
