Blow Out the Candles September 9

Hall of Fame Cubs player and manager Frank Chance was born in Fresno, California on this date in 1976.
1911 T205 (I need to get this graded)
Frank managed the Cubs to their last World Series Championship. (When he was born Ulysses S. Grant was President.  That's crazy, isn't it?)

These are the saddest of possible words:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."
Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,
Tinker and Evers and Chance.
Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,
Making a Giant hit into a double –
Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."

"The Fordham Flash", Hall of Famer Frankie Frisch was born in the Bronx, NY on this date in 1898.

Hall of Fame pitcher and longtime play-by-play voice of the Cincinnati Reds, Waite Hoyt was born in Brooklyn, NY on this date in 1899.

  1. Hi, Do you have an e-mail address I can write to? I'd like to request permission to use a photo of a 1927 Frankie Frisch baseball card you have posted. debra@djccommunications.com.
    Thank you. Debra Caruso
