Do It Yourself COMC Pack #23 Theodore Roosevelt Lilly

I recently had 8 months worth of Check Out My Cards purchases shipped.  I divided the 153 cards into 35 groups.  I like to think of these as hand picked "packs".   I'm posting them in random order.  "Pack" #23, 8 cards, was $2.95 including shipping.

Ted was one of my favorite Cubs of recent years.  These eight cards bring my collection to over 50.  I have at least one card of Ted from each of the six teams he's been with -- Expos, Yankees, A's, Jays, Cubs and Dodgers.  Ted's due to make his first start of 2012 when the Dodgers face the Padres tonight.  Good luck TR.

Happy Birthday to former Cubs and current Dodgers pitcher Theodore Roosevelt Lilly III who is turning 35 today. Ted was one of my favorite Cubs. Though he had a rough year in 2011Ted did finish strong, going 3-1 in his  last five starts with a 1.76 ERA.

Ted spent 2-1/2 years in the Bronx going 8-12 before being traded.

Card of the Day -- Ted Lilly

2007 Allen & Ginter's #288

Could all of the pundits be wrong?  It seems that all of the analysts were downplaying Ted Lilly's worth to a contender as the trade deadline approached.  Well genius's, so far TR is 3-0 in 3 starts since being traded to the Dodgers.  He's allowed just four runs in 19 innings while striking out 15 and walking 2.  Way to go, Ted!

Good Luck, Theodore!

Ted Lilly was traded today to the LA Dodgers, the team that originally drafted him back in 1996.  He was traded to the Expos halfway through the 1998 season before he made the bigs.  Here's a very young looking Lilly back in the mid 90's.

I really like Ted and I hope the Dodgers score more runs for him than the Cubs did.  He is a free agent at the end of this season and I'd love to see him come back.

Sweet Lou Quote of the Day

In the third inning of yesterday's game against the Astros Cub's pitcher Ted Lilly tried to steal second with one out. He was not successful.

Here's what Lou had to say in the post game meeting with the press:

"About the only thing bad today was that ill attempt trying to steal second base," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said.

Did Lilly have a green light?

"The light was red as hell," Piniella said.

So, nobody missed a sign?

"There was nothing missed," Piniella said. "Teddy just brainstormed that one. He tried to make things happen."

I'm going to miss Lou when the season's over.
