HOFer (The International Polka Music Hall of Fame) Myron Floren was born on this date in 1919. The "happy Norwegian" was born in South Dakota where he taught himself to play the accordian at age six. He gained fame as the most well known and popular band member on The Lawrence Welk Show. He died in 2005.
