Greetings From Humboldt Park

As a reaction to the Industrial Revoultion in the 19th century many big cities built parks as green getaways from the noise and pollution.  Chicago's great parks were mostly conceived and contructed between the end of the Civil War and the early 20th century.  Humboldt Park, on the West Side, is one.

Here are seven postcards dating from around 1906 to 1930.

The "Easter Beagle"?

However you celebrate I hope you're having a Happy Easter! My highlight will be watching my first Cubs game of the season (working during the first two).

Here's the first appearance of Snoopy as The Easter Beagle.

Some of my Peanuts Easter items:
These are vinyl magnets.
A card from a 33 card preview set.  Seems a full set got stuck in a tree or something.

Out of the Blue

This is a promotional trading card for Orel Hershiser's first book, Out of the Blue.  The hardcover was published on April 1, 1989 followed by the paperback on April 1, 1990.  I've had a stack of about 90 of the cards for 31 years.  No fooling.

I'm sure I could have bought the book when it came out but at the time was just not interested.  Free cards, of course.  Fast forward three decades and I came across the book in a thrift store for one dollar.  Hey, why not?

Now that I have it, is it a good read?
I'm sure I must own more of his cards but this is the only other one I've posted before.
