Animalloys

I'm not much of a fan of modern mini cards but I do collect tobacco cards from time to time.  Here's one of my favorite sets, 1934 W.D. & H.O. Wills Animalloys.

Some examples:

This is the complete set in pages:

  2. That is the cutest opossum I've every seen. I guess it helps that it's not on the side of the road.

  3. Interesting set. I've seen a number of Will's cards in the last 18 months since becoming more interested in pre-war. Have never seen these, though.

    1. My feeling is that they're not super rare or pricey. I have a thing for the pre-war era in general.

    2. I figured, as I am pretty much assured any time that I post something pre-war, I'm going to get an approving comment from you. It's always nice to read!

  4. I've never seen those either. Pretty fun, although the weasel is freaking me out.

  5. Very interesting set. I vaguely remember having a book when I was a kid that had three flaps with different animal body parts. Gotta wonder if the author stole his idea from these cards.

    1. I have one with famous people. It even has Groucho! Couldn't find it yesterday or I may have shown it.

  7. Leoparos... Isn't that something from "Game Of Thrones"?

(...says the guy who hasn't watched a single minute of GoT...)

That's a very fun set! The more I learn, the more I appreciate British tobacco sets much more than American sets. They seem that much more fun. I also greatly appreciate the planning and artistic skill involved in having body parts from drastically different sized animals line up to a significant degree.
