Garage Sale Pack #12

I short while back I bought a bunch of 20-25 card packs (sealed ziplocks) at the local garage sale.  Each one was just 25 cents and I could see two cards.  I've been opening them one at a time and posting my favorites here.  I realize that I'm not going to get any "mojo hits" but so far I've had a lot of fun with them.

Pack twelve had 24 cards --10 baseball, 12 football and 2 basketball.

Big Hurt oddball!

Speaking of oddball, I have no idea what this is.  But it's different so I love it.
1999 Stadium Club.  Rusty hit .306 in 1998.
Two words for Jerry.  Grecian Formula.
The Big Unit doesn't look happy in either of these pictures.  If this was from 1995 he went 18-2!

I love the 90's! Samurai is 8'1" and 400 lbs.
Rod is a member of the NFL All-Decade team for the 1990's and is in the Hall of Fame.
Cutler could use him.
Big Ben on his Big Butt
Martin is currently the General Manager of the resurgent Detroit Lions.
Jets cards just look good, don't they?
Just because it's Turkey Red
My Bubby was nice but her quarterback rating was much lower than even this Bubby.  Of course, she was already passed her prime when I was born.
Dave Krieg in his prime.  Are these cards part of a game?
Great looking card of the former Heisman winner.
Rodney would put up 5 straight 1000+ yard seasons starting in 1991.
Chad Lewis was a Pro Bowl selection in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
The former NBA Coach of the Year is now the head man in New Jersey.
The future Bison Dele who is presumed to have been killed at sea by his brother in 2002.

  1. I know there are better experts on Japanese cards who can give more detail, but that BBM is a Japanese release (obviously), and as far as I know, BBM is/was pretty legit. I think they're still making cards. They're sort of like the Topps of Japan, releasing about two dozen sets in various subjects (some packed out, others sold in complete set form). I'm surprised to see that card, since the only other Japanese cards I came across randomly in over 20 years were a couple of menkos.

  2. Ryan -- one thing I thought curious was that on the bottom of the back it's marked, "1993 BASEBALL MAGAZINE" in English. Any thoughts?

  3. As far as I can tell BBM releases several magazines in addition to the cards, and the company seems to be still called Baseball Magazine.

  4. Your comment on my post today brought me here - I'd absolutely be all over something like this at any garage sale! I ran across one doing something along the same lines, except it was 5-10 cards and four bucks a pop - no way. Plus, I bet there wasn't anything super fun like that BBM oddball either.
