Smiles of a Summer Night (Or Day)

No, this isn't about Ingmar Bergman.  Raise your hand if you're disappointed.  Back in the day I put together a bunch of themed pages-- bunting, sliding, glasses, interesting names, etc.  These nine guys from the 1990 Upper Deck set made up one of the better "smiles" pages.  I took them out of their plastic to scan them.

In case anyone really was disappointed.  Right!

  1. I have to confess, I've seen countless Bergman parodies but I've never actually seen a Bergman film. Shame! Shame on me!

Watching this clip made me think of Teri Garr in 'Young Frankenstein' - "Vould you like to have a roll in ze hay? It's fun! Roll, roll, roll in ze hay..." Of course, it's entirely possible that Teri Garr's character was a riff on Bergman that I just didn't catch.

    1. My wife loves the serious Bergman stuff. She just watched Woody Allen's homage, "Interiors". for the first time. BTW-I've been trying for a couple of weeks to comment on your blog but nothing shows up and your e-mail doesn't seem to appear anywhere there. Any idea what's going on? You can e-mail me at dballen323 at gmail dot com.

    2. I just sent an email going into more detail, but it looks like WordPress decided your comments might be spam. I've gone back and approved the bunch, hopefully that will be the end of it.
