I Saw It on Ebay

I saw this listed today on Ebay.  It's only $2.79 shipped but I can't figure out who would want it.  It's a little like buying an expired gift certificate for a good steak.  It makes your mouth water thinking about it but your stomach is still empty.

  1. Sometimes, not often, but sometimes you can send in an expired redemption card and get something. Now, since this is Upper Deck and they have one foot in the grave, I doubt it would work, but it does with Topps.

    1. I don't think it's a redemption card. It appears to be a COA that came with the signed card. Maybe some people would want anything that even mentions their favorite player (like a no image checklist for instance.)

  2. Yea, that is the COA that comes with some of their higher end hits, the number of the hologram matches the hologram on the card. Usually it is done on cards that have relics or autographs on both sides of the card and they can not print the "We guarantee..." message on the card back. I pulled a 6-swatch relic card a couple of years ago from a pack of SP Game Used and got a similar COA card. I don't understand the seller's logic for selling just the COA card though. Maybe he sold the autograph card and this COA card was just taking up room and he is trying to make a couple of bucks instead of tossing it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some knucklhead buy it without reading the description thinking they are getting a steal.
