Blow Out the Candles May 20 - Stan, Hal, Ken, Jimmy, Bud and Joe

Blackhawks great Stan Mikita is celebrating his 72nd birthday today.

Hall of Fame pitcher Hal Newhouser was born in Detroit Michigan on this date in 1921.

Cardinals great Ken Boyer was born in Liberty, Missouri on this date in 1931.
Ken was an 11 time All-Star selection, won 5 Gold Gloves and was the NL MVP in 1964.
 1964 World Series
1963 before Stan's last game.

Actor Jimmy Stewart was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on this date in 1908.
Jimmy Stewart had too long and distinguished a career to chronicle here so I'll just share some of my favorite   pictures and clips.

Legendary football coach Bud Grant is celebrating his 85th birthday today.
Before joining the Vikings Bud coached in the Canadian Football League for ten seasons winning four Grey Cups with the Winnipeg blue Bombers.
Bud was inducted into both the CFL and NFL Hall's of Fame.
1940's

I had no idea that Bud had played professional basketball.  He was on the Lakers 1950 Championship team.  He was a sparingly used reserve who averaged only 2.6 PPG over his two years.

British singer Joe Cocker is celebrating his 68th birthday today.
