  2. Wow...lots of great birthdays today. Jari Kurri was one of my all-time faves and the reason I got into hockey. Very underrated part of that Edmonton Oilers dynasty. And even though Brooks Robinson retired three years before I was born, I collect his cards when I can (love that 68 Topps btw). Class act and an unbelievable 3rd baseman--that pic with all the gold gloves says it all. Brooks embodies what baseball should be. Reggie Jackson....polar opposite. I think he was before his time; his self-promoting quotes would be perfect fodder for the 24-hour news cycle, ESPN/internet/social media (could you imagine MrOctober44 on Twitter?) and his contract demands/all-or-nothing HR swing would fit in perfectly with today's game.

    Great post, and very interesting video clips. I'll have to watch them all tonight.
