Card of the Day - Turk Wendell

When you think of quirky baseball players Turk Wendell is certainly one of the guys that comes to mind.  Without saying so in words, the back of this card honors one of "Turks Quirks".

Turk was known to chew black licquorice before going out to the mound each inning.  Since it would stain his teeth black he would them brush his teeth each time he came back to the dugout.

Do you know of nay other cards that picture player's superstitions or quirks?

  2. I was a big fan of his jump move over the foul line when he came onto the field. 1994 Collector's CHoice immortalized his move. One of my favorite cards from back in the day.

  3. It was not bear teeth on the necklace, but rather "Antler Tips" he cut off (from animals he shot) and strung through the necklace. The necklace did have one big Grizzly Bear paw nail it. The nail was given to him from an Indian friend. I have one of his necklaces.
