Hackenbush's 500th Post Contest!!!

What better way to celebrate my 500th post than to give away a bunch of cards?  None, I'm sure.

Don Pardo, tell them what they can win.

The lucky winner of this contest will take home these five great rookie cards!

But that's not all!

In addition, our winner will receive over three hundred Hall of Fame and star cards from Topps 1982, 1983, and 1984.  Palmer, Bench, Ryan, Fingers, Yazstremski, Carew, Jackson, Rose, Schmidt ... the list goes on and on.

Thanks, Don Pardo.

OK, it's a contest so there have to be rules, right?

To start with, you don't have to be a follower though seeing your little icons on my list does appeal to my vanity.  Most people come to Can't Have Too Many Cards to look at pictures of Marlo Thomas or Rene Magritte so if you're reading this post you're already on my good list!

The winner will be chosen at random based on the number of entries they have.

Any comment here gets you one entry.

Publicizing this contest on your blog gets you an additional two entries. (Comment with the link.)

If you're too busy, don't like guessing games, hate kids, or B&W pictures put you to sleep,  you may skip to the comments area.  You are excused.  Good luck!

Most of us started collecting cards when we were kids, like the ones in this class photo.  In fact, Hackenbush is one of the kids in in this photo.
Guess who I am and win five entries.  Guess the year and win two entries. Guess how many of my classmates' first names I can remember and win another three entries.

This contest will run through 11:59 PM Central Time, Sunday, Oct. 10 and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

  20. I have pimped you here, http://dgreen1899.blogspot.com/

You can remember exactly 14 classmates names. You are the third boy from the right in the third row up. Pretty little Kelly Perkins in the second row is looking at you wondering if you will ever trade your 1971 Thurmon Munson card. Probably not though, since that is the year this picture was taken...1971!

I hope that I win the Cal!

  24. Congrats again my friend... I am going to guess 1965 since that is the year of my favorite Topps set and no one has guessed it... I will say that you are like me and can still name EVERY single person in the picture (if you spend the time to REALLY concentrate)... Great contest. You will be pimped out in due time...

I say you are in the third row, third in from the right, (the one that girl is looking at), picture taken circa 1959 and you can remember 13 names of fellow students that year.

  35. Congrats on 500 posts!!

I don't want to attempt at guessing which one of those fine kids you are, so I will just pick the year and # of names you can remember:

    1972
    11 names

    Thanks for the contest!!!

  36. My pimping and pick for lil' Hackenbush (top row of boys, 6th from the left):
    http://cardjunk.blogspot.com/2010/10/contests.html
I used seecrit computer aging techniques to match the kiddo to the picture of you in your profile.
    Year is 1968.
You remember 13 of those other kids, you wish you could forget three of them.

  43. Sorry I missed out on the contest. It seem to be a real humdinger of a contest. Yea I got into collecting at the age of six and collecting hardcore until I went off to college in 1995. In college, beer money is a must so collecting was put on hold. Oh to young, stupid, and drunk. I digress. I got back into the in about 2006 and it's been like I didn't miss a beat. Still love it and started a card blog.
