Chipz, No Dip

I usually don't buy things like this but after lifting one out of the display I was intrigued by it's weight.  They do have a nice heavy feel to them.  The first three chips are "inserts", base gold, magnet and mascot, so I beat the odds.  Not sure I'll buy any more but for two bucks I think  Topps has put out an interesting product.  If there were a current player I collected I'd be looking for them.  What do you guys think?  Anyone else in on these?

Fan Pack Fun 2014 -- Toronto Blue Jays

Fan packs don't have to be large or expensive to be nice.  This is the first time the Blue Jays have sent one my way and I'm happy to have it.

The Blue Jays, new/old logo has always been one of my favorites, so seeing it on the envelope alone made me smile.

This is a two sided letter size fact sheet.

Wacky =Fun -- Cereal Boxes

I won a "contest" by Robert at $30 a Week Habit.  The prize was a gift certificate to Dave and Adam's. I would have liked to have splurged on a box of baseball cards but responsibly stayed within my current budget.  I picked up a needed box of Ultra Pro Platinum pages and this marked down blaster of 2010 Wacky Packages.  They're a lot of fun.  Take the time to look at everything.  The first two cards have puzzle pieces on the back so I didn't scan them.  I'll post more if people seem interested.

Fan Pack Fun 2014 -- Chicago Cubs

A week or so ago I went through the MLB sites and made a round of fan pack requests.  I think in these modern internet days teams are starting to pull back a bit.  For instance, there was this response from the Philadelphia Phillies, "Thank you for your request for a Phillies fan pack. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming volume of requests for Fan Packs, we are only able to accept requests from individuals within the tri-state area surrounding Philadelphia (PA, NJ, DE)."  This year the Dodgers, who in the past have sent terrific fan packs sent simply four schedules.

My Cubs, who do require a postcard request, sent a very nice pack this year, in fact better than in years past.

I Saw It on Ebay

I saw this today on Ebay.  Can you believe this still exists?  It's a factory roll of 1966 Topps rub-offs.  The seller estimates based on it's six pound weight that the roll contains between 350-380 mint 20 player strips all containing a Mickey Mantle.  The seller is asking $24, 995.

Am I the King of Disorganization or What?

If you're bad at something you might as well be very bad.  I've mentioned here and there how much I admire those of you who have super organized collections and what a mess mine is.  Here's some proof.  This box has been sitting on the floor in my office/card room.

I swear I had no idea what cards were in the box.  Here's a sampling covering four sports (I could have come up with more) and spanning over 40 years.

Before They Were "Wild"

The Blackhawks currently have a 2-0 lead in their 2nd round Stanley Cup series against the team from Minnesota, known as the Wild.  With no offense to their fans when I think Minnesota hockey I still picture the North Stars.  The North Stars first season was 1967-68 but their first cards were the ones below, 1968-69.  With the exception of Claude Larose, who was, like Danny Grant, pictured as a Canadien, this is a complete team set.  While certainly far from "pack fresh" I did pull these cards from packs over 45 years ago.
