Hall of Fame Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard was born in Richmond Hiils, Queens, New York on this date in 1910.



Actress Margaret Dumont was born in Brooklyn, New York on this date in 1882.
Margaret played straightwoman to Groucho is seven Marx Brothers films starting with their first, Cocoanuts.    I've always read that Dumont didn't get the Marx Brothers' humor and you can see it in her face on screen.
Groucho talks about Margaret at around the 7 minute mark.

Pianist, bandleader and composer Jelly Roll Morton was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on this date in 1890.
