Actor Basil Rathbone was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on this date in 1892.
Though he appeared in over 70 films Basil is best remembered for his portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's sleuth, Sherlock Holmes.  I have memories of watching some of the films on TV with my Dad.

Sesame Street's Bob McGrath is celebrating his 80th birthday today.

Artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude were both born on this date in 1935 he in Gabovo, Bulgaria, she in Casablanca, Morocco.  Jeanne-Claude died on November 18, 2009.
