David DeJesus

The Cubs announced on Wednesday that they had signed outfielder David DeJesus to a two year contract.  He will most likely be the team's regular right fielder in 2012.

DeJesus has played most his career in KC and since I mostly follow the National League I don't know much about him.  Did the Cubs do well in signing him?  Anyone have any stories or good tidbits of information about him?  Thanks.

  1. I live in KC and was able to meet him and get his autograph several times. He was always incredibly nice. It never seemed like a chore for him to interact with fans. He should be a fan favorite.

David DeJesus: David DeJesus' hand bothered him in 2011

David DeJesus admitted that his surgically-repaired right hand bothered him at times during the 2011 season.
DeJesus said that while this past season was "tough," he's now ‘‘100 percent’’ and prepared to bounce back from the .240/.323/.376 batting line he produced with the A's. He's a .284/.356/.421 career and will turn just 32 next month, so there's certainly reason to believe he still has a few good years left in him.

  4. Agree with Kelsey. He tossed me and my wife a BP ball one time at a KC/Angels game, and signed for us on a separate occasion at Spring Training. He's a class act.
