Here's Hoot sliding into home on July 4, 1952 as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

Visionary author Jules Verne was born on this date in 1828.
One of the fathers of Science Fiction Verne wrote, Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leauges Under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

Actor Jack Lemmon was born on this date in 1925.

Among his many accolades jack received  eight Oscar nominations and won twice.

Of all his movies my two favorites are The Apartment and The Prisoner of Second Avenue.

Composer Joe Raposo was born on this date in 1937.
Raposo is best known for his work for Sesame Street and the Muppets.

This one is for my wife

Oddly enough, Joe wrote the music for the Three's Company theme song.

Actress Mary Steenburgen is celebrating her 58th birthday today.
Mary is married to actor Ted Danson and is a close friend of  Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.  She won an Oscar for her role in Melvin and Howard but my favorite of her roles is as Adrian opposite Woody Allen in his 1982 Bergman homage, A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy.
